Regarding translations: I am of the opinion that having more translations is always better than having less translations. Texts often contain more than just explicit meaning. There are always going to be implied meanings, double entendres, puns and more in a text, and most of the time, as a translator, there is just no best way to bring all of those elements out in a translation due to the inherent differences between the source and target languages. As a result, you often have to decide what the message the text is trying to convey is, and what you want to include in your translation (and thus, by extension, what you think could be left out and/or left to a footnote). Moreover, when we read things, we process and understand them according to our own interpretations. No person is a "blank slate", no one can read something without seeing it through some sort of lens (and that lens would depend on our culture, our identity, our personal experiences and so on). Thus, all translations are inevitably in some part a product of the translator's interpretation of the original text. By having more translations, we can see how different people interpret the same text, and bring to focus different aspects of the text. In that way, we can come to understand the original text better. We can also learn more about the different perspectives we can use to view a text, because there are bound to be people who would read something differently from the way we do. TLDR; having more translations is better than less translations. I won't entertain pointless drama between people who are upset that something they were translating is also being translated by someone else.

Regarding fiction vs reality: my stance is and has always been that fiction will always be a place for people to explore topics that would otherwise be harmful in real life. The relationship between fiction and reality is a complicated one, and cannot be explained by a simple "fiction = reality". Fiction affects reality in complex ways, and I believe we all have the critical thinking ability to discern whether something in a work of fiction is appropriate or not, and for what reasons, regardless of how it's presented in said fictional work. I understand if people find certain things uncomfortable, however, the onus is on them to avoid the things that make them uncomfortable. Just because one person finds something uncomfortable does not mean everyone has to feel the same about it. If by chance something you dislike isn't tagged properly and you happen to come across it despite having the keywords muted, then I understand why you would be upset. However, if said works are tagged and you go into them knowing what they contain, you really don't have the right to complain about the content. Important note: Just because I do not find something uncomfortable in fiction does not mean that I would approve of the same thing if it happened in real life.
